Howdy folks and welcome to week 11 of your Tumbleweed Farm share. We hope that you all are able to stay cool with this intense heat. Temps at the farm have reached the triple digits multiple days in a row and it's definitely not good for the crops. We're hoping that certain things will bounce back but the heat has started to take its toll out in the field. Looking ahead it sounds like things will start to cool off mid week. Fingers crossed that stays accurate. A major bonus would be some much needed rain.

On a lighter note, this weeks box is similar to last week but we hope that's alright with you. The chard and lettuce are some of the few greens that are looking good in this heat (the lettuce is our 10th succession planting and is in a nice shady spot in the field) This week we're happy to have some potatoes for you all along with some fresh cilantro.  The zucchini continues to flourish and if you're having a hard time getting through it just know that you can cube it, blanch it in boiling water,  cool it off in ice water and then freeze it for the winter. We've gone that and it's always nice to dip into a bag of zucchini on a gloomy winter day.

Alrighty, we hope you're enjoying the harvest and we'll see you all soon!

Your farmers,
A & T

And just like that, we made it to week 10! Time is starting to fly out here at the farm and the summer crops are cranking. The corn is taller than me and almost as tall as Taylor and should be making its seasonal debut in the next couple of weeks. The melons are sizing up and slowly starting to ripen, along with eggplant and peppers. This week we're happy to introduce the first succession of basil. We're also happy to have dill and carrots back in the mix along with the Walla Walla Sweet Onions. The zucchini continues to overflow the upper field and we're so happy to hear that a lot of you made the zucchini butter that we posted about last week and loved it. It really is the condiment that keeps us excited about zucchini all summer long.

Anyhow folks, we hope you have a wonderful week (despite the crazy heat) and continue to enjoy the summer harvest. And just a reminder to mark your calendars for the farm party on Saturday August 25th anytime after 4pm.

Happy cooking!

Your farmers,
A & T

2018 Harvest 9

Hot damn!! It's getting toasty out here folks. We hope you all have been able to stay cool and relatively comfortable in the heat. As for things up here, it's been hard keeping up with irrigation but thankfully things are still managing to get wet and most of the crops are looking good despite triple digits.

This week we're happy to have carrots back in the mix along with some really delicious Walla Walla Sweet onions. The onions haven't been cured so keep them in the fridge and use them within the next couple of weeks. Basil should be popping up in your shares next week which is always exciting (at least for us--we love cucumbers!) The tomatoes are looking good and we've managed to eat a few ripe cherry tomatoes but they're still a ways out before we've got enough for CSA. However, we assure you they're coming along!

On a separate note, we want folks to mark your calendars for our 6th annual "Rock the Harvest" party on Saturday August 25th starting at 4:30pm. The Greenneck Daredevils will be playing again and we'll have plenty beer on tap along with canned wine from our buddies over at Union Wine Co. We encourage folks to bring along your own picnic dinner and even make a night out of it and camp nearby or stay at one of the many rad hotels in the area. It's one of our favorite summer traditions to have you all out to the farm and we hope you can join us for another great party to celebrate the farm season!

Alright, we hope you enjoy this weeks harvest. Happy cooking everyone.

A & T
