2019 Harvest 6

Howdy folks and welcome to week 6 of your Tumbleweed Farm CSA. This week we’re thrilled with the harvest and we hope you’re all pretty damn hungry! We’ve got spring broccoli making it’s seasonal debut along with our favorite— ICEBERG LETTUCE!!! Wedge salad anyone? We’ve also got some tri-colored beet bunches that are beautiful and delicious along with the usual suspects— lettuce, bunched greens, turnips etc.

We hope you all enjoy the harvest this week. The early summer crops are cranking and in a few short weeks we’ll be harvesting sugar snap peas, zucchini, cucumbers and more. Things are looking pretty darn good out there so fingers crossed for warmer weather, rain at just the right time and gopher traps that get the job done!

Thanks again everyone for being a part of the Tumbleweed Family this season. Happy cooking and eating!

Your farmers,
A & T

2019 Harvest 5

Howdy folks and welcome to week 5 of your Tumbleweed Farm CSA. This week it’s all about them greens!!! And I know it’s been a pretty “green” heavy couple of weeks but please enjoy them while we’ve got ‘em. Next week the boxes will be pretty “root veggie” heavy so for now (and thank god for the warm weather) it’s a salad kind of week. Or let’s get real— I’ve got plenty more recipes besides salads you can whip up with all of these amazing greens. Just check out the recipe suggestions below. What I love about the CSA ( or seasonal eating in general) is that it really does force you to work with what you’ve got and what’s coming out of the earth in your region. So even though tomatoes and corn may sound really good right now, they’ll taste even better once their time comes. So I hope you all can embrace the greens and enjoy some delcious meals with folks you’re pumped to be around.

Happy cooking and eating everyone!

2019 Harvest 4

190506_DUTD2_2019Harvest4.jpg

Howdy folks and welcome to week 4 of your CSA. This week we’re excited to start getting strawberries into the boxes. With that being said, they’re just coming on now so this week it’s everyone who picks up in Hood River and next week it’ll be everyone who picks up in Portland. So don’t worry, over the next few weeks you’ll all get to enjoy a pint or two of berries!

This week we’re also excited to debut some beautiful rainbow chard along with head lettuce. This will probably be the last week of bok choy until the fall (I know a lot of you will be excited for the break but I know a few of you die hard bok choy lovers will be sad to say goodbye for a few months.) Regardless, there is a lot of new stuff on the horizon so hopefully you wont’ get too bored with all the greens. Soon enough there will be endless zucchini, peas, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, herbs and more. Just you wait!

We hope you all have a fabulous week!

Cheers to the spring bounty!
