2019 Harvest 8

Howdy folks and welcome to week 8 of your CSA shares! We hope you all had a nice holiday weekend and are hungry for this weeks veggies. These cool temperatures have been nice here at the farm, though we’re ready for things to heat up a bit so the tomatoes, peppers, corn, cucumbers and eggplants can start cranking! We’ve had chilly nights (in the 40’s) so while the greens are loving it, our summer crops are a little behind. Not to worry thought, we’ve got plenty to keep you fueled up until that first bite of sweet corn!

This week we’re excited to have zucchini and sugar snap peas baking their seasonal debuts. However, due to the cool temperatures we don’t have quite enough for everyone so this week all of our Hood River members will be recieving zucchini and all of the Portland folks will get sugar snap peas. Next week we’ll flip flop so you all we’ll get to enjoy both! And don’t worry, there’s plenty more where that zucchini is coming from! Just you wait!

Happy cooking and eating everyone!

Your farmers,
A & T

2019 Harvest 7

Howdy folks and welcome to week 7 of your Tumbleweed Farm CSA. We’re so excited to share some new veggies with you this week and even more excited that there’s a lot more variety coming in hot in the coming weeks. Things are looking great out here and we’re absolutely stoked with the bounty so far this season. This week we’re happy to debut the first of the black radishes. For those of you joining us for the first time this year the black radishes are some of our favorites but just to warn you they’re a bit spicier than traditinoal radishes. For that reason we love preparing them by slicing them really thin and adding them to salads or topping pizza or sourdough toast. They’re absolutely beautiful (black on the outside and tuxedo white on the inside) so have fun with them. They’re also great “quick pickled” and will keep for months in jars in the refrigerator. They also look really pretty served on a meat and cheese platter if you slice them into thin rounds. Go wild!

In the coming weeks sugar snap peas will be making their debut along with zucchini, new potatoes, basil, and the first of the field carrots. Lot’s to look forward and in the meantime we hope you love the box this week.

Cheers to the summer harvest!

A & T

Howdy folks and welcome to week 6 of your Tumbleweed Farm CSA. This week we’re thrilled with the harvest and we hope you’re all pretty damn hungry! We’ve got spring broccoli making it’s seasonal debut along with our favorite— ICEBERG LETTUCE!!! Wedge salad anyone? We’ve also got some tri-colored beet bunches that are beautiful and delicious along with the usual suspects— lettuce, bunched greens, turnips etc.

We hope you all enjoy the harvest this week. The early summer crops are cranking and in a few short weeks we’ll be harvesting sugar snap peas, zucchini, cucumbers and more. Things are looking pretty darn good out there so fingers crossed for warmer weather, rain at just the right time and gopher traps that get the job done!

Thanks again everyone for being a part of the Tumbleweed Family this season. Happy cooking and eating!
