2024 Harvest 1

Howdy folks and welcome to the first week of your Tumbleweed Farm CSA share of the 2024 season. We’re so excited to have you all a part of the farm family this year. Things are looking really good out in the fields and even with a few unexpected late seasons frosts (eeek!!) things are thriving. We’ve had to row cover a lot of hot weather crops that are out in the fields to keep them surviving these cold nights but other than that, we’ve been really pleased with the spring weather. Hot days, mixed in spring rain, and then some overall just comfortable working weather. It’s been a great start to the season out here!

This week’s box reflects what the spring is producing here. Lot’s of leafy greens, spring root veggies, and lettuce. We hope you all enjoy your first box of the season!

Happy cooking and eating everyone!

Your farmers,
Taylor, Andrea, Pepper & Maize

Harvest 1

  1. Kale—super high in antioxidants, contains vitamin C, Vitamin K, Manganese and various polyphenols

  2. Arugula— one of the healthiest leafy greens! Containing a ton of antioxidants and inflammatory properties.

  3. Bok Choy— Full of anti-cancer properties such as Vitamins C & E, beta carotene, and selenium which is thought to slow the growth rate of tumors.

  4. Head Lettuce-a rich source of vitamins A, K and folate. Also a good anti- inflammatory leafy green.

  5. Green Garlic- the list is too long!! It’s anti-fungal, anti- inflammatory, boosts immune health, and is full of antioxidants!

  6. Radishes- are a rich source of magnesium, potassium and vitamin C. Remove the greens from these to help keep the roots crisp for storing.
