2026 Harvest 12

Howdy folks, and welcome to Week 12 of your Tumbleweed Farm CSA!

We hope you had a wonderful week and are ready for another beautiful box of farm-fresh veggies. This past week brought smoky skies (thanks to those darn wildfires), cool mornings, hot afternoons, and some of the most breathtaking sunrises and sunsets we've seen all season. While the colorful skies have been stunning, we'd gladly trade them for clear air. We're thinking of everyone affected by the fires and are incredibly grateful for the firefighters and first responders working tirelessly to keep our communities safe.

Despite the smoky weather, we're especially proud of this week's harvest. The fields are overflowing with summer abundance, and this share is a true reflection of the season's peak. Best of all, we're only getting started!

The sweet corn is just about ready, the melons are getting close, peppers are finally hitting their stride (keep an eye out for those in next week's share!), and both eggplant and summer potatoes are looking absolutely beautiful. The coming weeks are shaping up to be some of our favorite harvests of the year, and we can't wait to share them with you.

Enjoy this week's haul, stay safe, and thank you, as always, for supporting our farm!

Harvest 12

  1. Beets—rich in folate, manganese and copper. Copper is very important as it helps make red blood cells and helps keep your immune system healthy.

  2. Celery—it’s rich in over 25 anti-inflmatory compounds and has a natural and healthy sodium content and is a great source of electrolytes.

  3. Zucchini/Summer Squash—Zucchini/summer squash is a highly alkaline food that is one of the mildest and easiest vegetables to digest. Zucchini is a great source of vitamin A, C, & B-complex as well as minerals such as iron, zinc, potassium, and manganese.

  4. Cucumber— If you are feeling dehydrated eat a cucumber! Cucumbers are hydrating and contain more than 50 trace minerals. They contain chlorophyll in their skins that’s bonded to B vitamins and vitamins A and C. And cucumbers support digestion and hydration.

  5. Lettuce Mix—Anti-infamatory and a rich source of vitamins A, K and folate.

  6. Kohlrabi— Kohlrabi is great for gut health as it contains both soluble and insoluble fiber. It also contains a wide array of antioxidants, such as vitamin C, anthocyanins, isothiocyanates, and glucosinolates. These plant compounds protect your cells against free radical damage that may otherwise increase your risk of disease.

  7. Rainbow Chard—this dark leafy green is high in antioxidants and important vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, K and A and a healthy dose of magnesium (which many people are deficient in).

  8. Scallions—Great for overall immune health. Scallions are a good source of vitamin C and a flavonoid called quercetin. Both can strengthen your immune system and help it fight illnesses.

  9. Cherry tomatoes OR Full Size tomatoes— Tomatoes are the major dietary source of the antioxidant lycopene, which has been linked to many health benefits, including reduced risk of heart disease and cancer.

  10. Dill—is great for digestion and helps with bloating. Because of its antacid properties it’s great at easing indigestion, gastritis and other inflammatory conditions.

2026 Harvest 11

Howdy folks, and welcome to Week 11 of your Tumbleweed Farm CSA harvest!

We hope you had a wonderful week and got to enjoy some delicious meals with last week's bounty. This week's share has a fun little surprise: the first of the summer green beans!

Funny enough, we weren't planning on harvesting beans quite yet. We figured they still had another week to go. But as Monday's harvest was winding down, I took one last stroll through the field and realized those beans had other plans—they were huge! So I asked the crew if anyone was willing to stick around a little longer to help pick them. Two hours later, we had enough beautiful green beans for every single share. I’m so proud of our team!! We did it!

Now, onto the recipes...because this week's lineup is one of my favorites yet. Also, y’all got some big bunches of parley so it’s chimichurri time. Don’t stress over how big some of the bunches are. Chimichurri lasts forever in the fridge and freezes really well. I don’t have a recipe on my blog for chimichurri but I am typing out the recipe from my cookbook “Local Dirt” below so you have it. It’s. lovely and taste great served over steak, fish, chicken or even drizzled over white beans and rice.

The Celery and Date Salad is an absolute must-make. It's incredibly simple, surprisingly flavorful, and one of those dishes that has everyone asking for the recipe after the first bite.

The Broiled Miso Salmon with Cucumber Salad is another recipe you won't want to miss. It's fresh, packed with flavor, and comes together in about 20 minutes, making it perfect for busy summer evenings.

And if you're looking for a cozy, family-friendly dinner, the Italian Chicken, Chickpea, and Zucchini Skillet is the answer. It's an easy one-pan meal that's hearty, nourishing, and was officially declared my kids' favorite recipe of the summer. If that's not a glowing review, I don't know what is!

If you make any of this week's recipes, we'd love to hear what you think.

Enjoy this week's haul, friends. We worked our tails off to fill these boxes, and we hope you can taste the love that went into every single one. Happy cooking!

Local Dirt’s Chimichurri Sauce (makes 1 1/2 cups)

  • 1 cup coarsely chopped parsley

  • 3 Tablespoons red wine vinegar

  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

Blend everything together in a food processor until smooth. Taste for seasonings and adjust as needed. This usually means more salt and pepper!

2026 Harvest 10

Hot dang! Just like that, we're in the double digits. Ten weeks of farm-fresh produce—I can hardly believe we're already this far into the season!

This week's harvest is an especially tasty one. We pulled our very first Walla Walla sweet onions yesterday, and oh my goodness...they are so stinkin' good. Sweet, juicy, and bursting with flavor, they're one of the highlights of summer around here. Be sure to give the Walla Walla Sweet Onion Dip below a try—it's a seasonal favorite that makes an appearance in our kitchen every year.

Another recipe that's earned a permanent spot in our dinner rotation is the Beef and Beet Bowls with Kale, Whipped Cottage Cheese, and Hot Honey. My whole family devoured them! We swapped the hot honey for regular honey on the kiddos' bowls, but if you're making these for the grown-ups, don't skip the hot honey. It brings everything together with the perfect sweet and spicy finish.

Out in the fields, we're staying busy despite the heat and smoky skies. The summer harvest keeps rolling in, and we're grateful to be filling your boxes with the very best the farm has to offer. We're hoping for a break from the smoke and cooler temperatures soon, but until then, we're keeping our heads down and doing what we love.

We hope you're enjoying this week's harvest. Take good care of yourselves, and we'll see you again next week!

Your farmers,

Andrea, Taylor, Pepper, Maize and our awesome crew
