2018 Harvest 14

Howdy folks and welcome to week 14! We can't believe we're deep into August but dang, here we are. This week the boxes are full of summer bounty with a ton of peppers. We've got sweet bell peppers along with poblanos and jalapeños. I think it's a chili kind of week! We're finally swimming in tomatoes so each week for the foreseeable future everyone will get both cherry tomatoes along with full size tomatoes.

We're getting excited for the farm party on Saturday and hope you can all make it. The lovely folks at Union Wine Co. will be pouring wine from their traveling wine van and we'll have beer too. The band is getting stoked to perform for the 5th year in a row and we know it's going to be a great time. We just ask that you leave your pups at home due to crops and livestock. Otherwise, bring along your family or a few friends. We can't wait!

Alright folks, we hope you enjoy this week's harvest. See you all soon!

2018 Harvest 13

harvest week 13 2018.jpg

Howdy folks and welcome to week 13 of your Tumbleweed Farm share. This past week we were SO damn happy to have a little relief from the heat. The plants were happy which made us so much more relaxed around here. Today has been a wonderful day at the farm with a warm breeze and perfect working conditions. However, it looks like the heat is coming back and we're preparing for another round of high 90's. The good news is that the summer corps are starting to crank and this week we're happy to have green beans, corn, peppers and tomatoes in your shares. We also have more melons but they'll be divided slowly between the shares over the next week or two (they've been slow to mature this year). Not to worry though, you'll all get some soon enough!

Anyhow, we wanted to pass along a reminder to you all about our party on August 25th. The music will be rocking, we'll have plenty of cold beer and wine, and we just ask that you bring your own picnic if you plan on eating. It's always a good time and we're excited for another year of celebrating the farm season with you all. Swing on up to the farm anytime after 4pm on Saturday the 25th.

Alright, enjoy the veggies this week everyone.

Take care and happy cooking!

Your farmers,
T & A

2018 Harvest 12

harvest week 12.jpg

Howdy folks and welcome to week 12. Hopefully you all got to enjoy a little relief from the heat before it warms up again this week. It may be hot and uncomfortable but we're really happy with this weeks harvest. Corn is finally making its seasonal debut! We've been worried about the corn crop because it was not responding well to these last few weeks of extreme heat. Luckily, everyone will get some and it's absolutely delicious. The tricky part about corn is that it's best when eaten day of or just a couple of days after harvest. So if you can, grill or boil some up tonight or tomorrow!

This week everyone is getting tomatoes. Some folks are getting cherry tomatoes while others are getting full sized ones. In the next couple of weeks you'll all be getting full size and cherries at the same time. The melons are slowly coming on and we'll be putting them in boxes as we've got them. Not to worry, you'll all receive melons at some point.

This week we're harvesting all of our storage onions. They are looking big and beautiful and we're really stoked with this season's yield. We'll be curing those in the barn for the next couple of weeks before we start putting them in boxes.

It's really starting to feel and taste like summer around here folks! We hope you enjoy this weeks bounty.

Stay cool out there!

Your farmers,
A & T
