2022 Harvest 7

Howdy folks and welcome to week 7! It was quite the exciting week here at our farm as Thursday morning I was out harvesting turnips with the crew and by lunchtime I was in early labor! Our sweet baby girl was born early Friday morning and we are so happy she is here! Everyone is doing well and resting up the best we can!

This week we are SO proud of our amazing crew for kicking ass and stepping up. We’ve got 130 CSA members, 3 crew members, and a harvest list that is growing longer by the week. Our Tumbleweed Farm team is truly the best and we could not survive this season without them!

This week’s box is full of some tasty treats and we hope you all love the bounty!

Happy cooking and eating everyone!

Andrea, Taylor, little Pepper and baby Maize

2022 Harvest 6

Howdy folks and welcome to week 6! We’re so happy with the weather recently. A few hot days was necessary for our summer crops and now the cooler weather coming in this week is a total treat. This is feeling like a good old fashioned Pacific Northwest summer from my childhood.

We hope you all are enjoying the leafy greens while we’ve got them. Summer crops are definitely delayed this year (zucchini, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, melons, eggplants, etc.) and while they’re growing, they have had a slow start. We actually lost over 180 watermelon plants earlier this month due to the cold nights. We’re sitting up at a little elevation here at the farm and with so many spring nights in the 30’ and 40’s things had a hard time establishing in the fields. But we’re turning a corner and feeling optimistic!

Anyhow, we hope you all made some room in your refrigerators for this week’s haul!

Happy cooking and eating everyone.

Your farmers,
A & T & Little P

2022 Harvest 5

Howdy folks and welcome to week 5 of your CSA! Things are taking a turn and there is more variety coming your way each week. Today we’re excited to have the seasonal debut of kohlrabi (one of our absolute favorite veggies!) along with rainbow chard, carrots, turnips, lettuce, spinach, Bok Choy and more garlic scapes. We’re pretty stoked with the weather forecast as we need some heat out here to get the summer crops a jump start. They are really slow this year as we’ve had multiple nights in the 40’s and just so much cool, wet weather. So this forecast is getting us pretty pumped for the weeks ahead. Bring on summer!!

We hope you all love this week’s harvest and some of the recipe suggestions below. Happy cooking and eating everyone!
