2025 CSA Harvest 5

Howdy folks and welcome to week 5 of your Tumbleweed Farm CSA share. Hot damn—it’s felt awesome out here in the fields these past few days. Breezy, cool (we’ve been wearing sweatshirts in the mornings and that’s a big deal!) and the plants are loving it! The fields are popping and zucchini is on the horizon, the melon plants are looking healthy and the corn is tall enough to be breezy in the wind. We even dug up a few new potatoes to have with your dinner last night and they were so creamy and delicious. Look out for those coming soon!

This past week we started harvesting the first of the spring broccoli. My kid’s are ecstatic! The plants aren’t as healthy looking as in year’s past but they are still delicious. I think that early heat wave did a number on the broccoli but they recovered. They just aren’t as big as we normally like.

We are continuing to seed fall crops and it feels crazy to already be planning for October! But here we are and it’s wild. Time is crazy out here!

Before I get to this week’s haul I wanted to encourage any of you with kiddos to come on out to our farm for our dedicated family focused farm tours. We held our first one last month and it was so stinking fun! I’ve teamed up with our neighbor rancher and we tour Tumbleweed farm first and get to harvest a few veggies with the kiddos and then walk over to the ranch next door and feed the animals, tour the homestead and have another farm fresh snack. I’ll attach the detail in the photo below. You can sign up via the website shown in the link below the photo. And it’s not just for kiddos. If yo want to come without kids the tour is for you as well! Just know there will be kiddos running around too.

Alrighty, let’s get to this week’s haul! First up, ya’ll need to try the dill-cilantro chimichurri sauce. It’s one of the best green sauces I’ve made and it’s great for serving over any kind of grilled meat or fish. Second, the carrot salad may sound boring, but it’s so stinking simple and good! Try it out for yourself. It’s going to be a summer staple for me!

I hope you all enjoy harvest week 5!

The greens boast a whole list of their own nutritional values but the biggest ones are that they’re high in vitamin A and calcium. Please remove the greens from the turnips and store them separately so the roots don’t get soft.

2025 CSA Harvest 4

Howdy folks and welcome to week 4 of your Tumbleweed Farm CSA share. Hot damn it’s getting toasty out here! We’ve had quite the week of heat but our crew busted butt and we got everything that needed to get done, done! Honestly, working in the heat and grime with a good group of folks makes everything more tolerable and even our young kiddos had fun helping out in the heat this week. Running through the irrigation sprinklers helped!

This week’s haul is a good one! I asked my girl’s what they were most excited about in the shares this week and they both said “kohlrabi”. If you haven’t experimented with kohlrabi yet don’t let this gnarly looking vegetable scare you. It’s absolutely delicious and so crunchy! My kid’s favorite way to eat kohlrabi is to have me slice the kohlrabi into thin matchsticks and sprinkle sea salt and nutritional yeast over it. Don’t knock it till you try it! It’s good!

Alright, we hope you all get a chance to sit down at the table for some good meals this week with the people you love. Below are some snap shots of the past week here in the fields.

Happy cooking!

Your farmers,
Andrea, Taylor, Pepper, Maize & our amazing crew!

2025 Harvest 3

Howdy folks and welcome to your Tumbleweed Farm CSA week #3! We hope you’re feeling the need for a healthy week of leafy greens because that’s what you’re getting! In all honesty, sometimes these EXTRA green heavy boxes make us feel a little bad that there isn’t as much variety but this time of the year it really is all we have. The good news, I just whipped up the most kick-ass salad using most of this box and it’s the best salad I’ve had in ages. Eating this way is a good reminder that our bodies move and crave the season we’re in if we just tune in.

I hope you all give the below salad a whirl. It keeps well in the fridge for up to 3 days so that’s a major win! The tacos we made last night in recipe number two below are also bomb! Keep us posted on what you make this week.

Below are a few snap shots of this past week on the farm. We got watermelons and cantaloupes planted, fall cauliflower is already germinating in the greenhouse, and the summer corn is looking awesome in the fields!

Have a wonderful week of healthy meals and good company.

  3. Spinach— rich in iron, potassium, vitamins C & E, and magnesium. Spinach can also aid in digestion and has anticancer properties. Eat this veggie up!!
