2026 Harvest 10

Hot dang! Just like that, we're in the double digits. Ten weeks of farm-fresh produce—I can hardly believe we're already this far into the season!

This week's harvest is an especially tasty one. We pulled our very first Walla Walla sweet onions yesterday, and oh my goodness...they are so stinkin' good. Sweet, juicy, and bursting with flavor, they're one of the highlights of summer around here. Be sure to give the Walla Walla Sweet Onion Dip below a try—it's a seasonal favorite that makes an appearance in our kitchen every year.

Another recipe that's earned a permanent spot in our dinner rotation is the Beef and Beet Bowls with Kale, Whipped Cottage Cheese, and Hot Honey. My whole family devoured them! We swapped the hot honey for regular honey on the kiddos' bowls, but if you're making these for the grown-ups, don't skip the hot honey. It brings everything together with the perfect sweet and spicy finish.

Out in the fields, we're staying busy despite the heat and smoky skies. The summer harvest keeps rolling in, and we're grateful to be filling your boxes with the very best the farm has to offer. We're hoping for a break from the smoke and cooler temperatures soon, but until then, we're keeping our heads down and doing what we love.

We hope you're enjoying this week's harvest. Take good care of yourselves, and we'll see you again next week!

Your farmers,

Andrea, Taylor, Pepper, Maize and our awesome crew

Harvest 10

  1. Beets—rich in folate, manganese and copper. Copper is very important as it helps make red blood cells and helps keep your immune system healthy.

  2. Kale—super high in antioxidants, contains vitamin C, Vitamin K, Manganese and various polyphenols

  3. Walla Walla Sweet Onions— Onions are high in probiotics and fiber which is great for gut health. They are also high in vitamin C, which may help regulate your immune health, collagen production, and iron absorption. Onions are rich in B vitamins, including folate and vitamin B6.

  4. Garlic —the list of health benefits is almost too long!! It’s anti-fungal, anti- inflammatory, boosts immune health, and is full of antioxidants! Just eat garlic with every meal!

  5. Zucchini/Summer Squash—Zucchini/summer squash is a highly alkaline food that is one of the mildest and easiest vegetables to digest. Zucchini is a great source of vitamin A, C, & B-complex as well as minerals such as iron, zinc, potassium, and manganese.

  6. Cucumber— If you are feeling dehydrated eat a cucumber! Cucumbers are hydrating and contain more than 50 trace minerals. They contain chlorophyll in their skins that’s bonded to B vitamins and vitamins A and C. And cucumbers support digestion and hydration.

  7. Basil—It’s antibacterial and antiviral making it effective against bacterial infections, colds and flu. Basil is a rich source of magnesium and is chock full of vitamins and minerals essential for overall body health and wellness.

  8. Salad Mix—These leafy greens are a rich source of vitamins A, K and folate. Also a good anti- inflammatory leafy green.

2026 Harvest 9

Howdy folks and welcome to harvest week 9 of your Tumbleweed Farm season! We hope you've been enjoying the bounty from last week's box and are ready for another round of farm-fresh goodness headed your way.

The fields are absolutely exploding with abundance right now. This week we harvested our first cucumbers of the season (they'll be making their way into your shares very soon!) along with new potatoes and the very first cherry tomatoes. The tomato plants are just starting to wake up, so it'll still be a few more weeks before we have enough for CSA boxes, but don't worry — our kids are doing an excellent job quality testing the first flush for you.

The peppers, eggplants, corn, and melons are all looking happy and healthy out in the fields, and if you can believe it, we've already planted our fall cauliflower crop. Every square inch of the farm is spoken for right now. In fact, we just finished harvesting the last of our broccoli planting yesterday and are already turning it under to make room for another round of late summer greens that need to get in the ground this week.

It's busy, beautiful, a little chaotic, and absolutely bursting with life out here right now.

We hope you enjoy this week’s haul.

Happy cooking and eating everyone!

Andrea, Taylor, Pepper, Maize and our awesome crew

Harvest 9

  1. Head LettuceA rich source of vitamins A, K and folate. Contains anti-inflamatory properties.

  2. Rainbow Chard—this dark leafy green is high in antioxidants and important vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, K and A and a healthy dose of magnesium (which many people are deficient in).

  3. Broccoli—Broccoli contains many vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. Research suggests that some of broccoli’s plant compounds are thought to help prevent cancer when eaten often. Broccoli’s benefits include helping reduce inflammation, keeping blood sugar stable, and strengthening the immune system.

  4. Cilantro—Cilantro is one of the most potent and detoxifying herbs for our bodies. It helps remove heavy metals from our bodies and has antibacterial properties along with being one of the most adrenal supporting herbs out there.

  5. Carrots—Rich in beta-carotene which your body converts into Vitamin A. This vitamin is important for vision, bone and immune function. Carrots are also high in antioxidants and important minerals for overall body health. Remove the greens on the carrots before storing them so they don’t go soft.

  6. Turnips—Rich in vitamins and minerals turnips are high in antioxidants which help provide anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and antibacterial effects, among other benefits. The greens boast a whole list of their own nutritional values but the biggest ones are that they’re high in vitamin A and calcium. Please remove the greens from the turnips and store them separately so the roots don’t get soft.

  7. Potatoes—Potato skins and flesh are both very beneficial to human health. Fun fact—potato plants draw some of the highest concentration of macro and trace minerals from the earth. This was news to me!! They are high in potassium and rich in vitamin B6, as well as a fantastic source of amino acids, especially lysine in its bioactive form. Lysine is a powerful weapon against viruses such as Epstein-Barr and shingles that are behind rheumatoid arthritis, joint pain, autoimmune disease, and more. Potatoes also contain tyrosine, a chemical needed to produce thyroid hormones. So cool! Eat more potatoes folks!
