2025 Harvest 3

Howdy folks and welcome to your Tumbleweed Farm CSA week #3! We hope you’re feeling the need for a healthy week of leafy greens because that’s what you’re getting! In all honesty, sometimes these EXTRA green heavy boxes make us feel a little bad that there isn’t as much variety but this time of the year it really is all we have. The good news, I just whipped up the most kick-ass salad using most of this box and it’s the best salad I’ve had in ages. Eating this way is a good reminder that our bodies move and crave the season we’re in if we just tune in.

I hope you all give the below salad a whirl. It keeps well in the fridge for up to 3 days so that’s a major win! The tacos we made last night in recipe number two below are also bomb! Keep us posted on what you make this week.

Below are a few snap shots of this past week on the farm. We got watermelons and cantaloupes planted, fall cauliflower is already germinating in the greenhouse, and the summer corn is looking awesome in the fields!

Have a wonderful week of healthy meals and good company.

Your farmers,
Andrea, Taylor, Pepper, Maize & our amazing crew

Harvest 3

  1. Rainbow Chard—this dark leafy green is high in antioxidants and important vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, K and A and a healthy dose of magnesium (which many people are deficient in).

  2. Romaine Lettuce—It’s high in folate (if you’re suffering from allergies this season eat this green up!) It’s also a good source of copper and vitamins A, K and C.

  3. Spinach— rich in iron, potassium, vitamins C & E, and magnesium. Spinach can also aid in digestion and has anticancer properties. Eat this veggie up!!

  4. Radishes—are a rich source of magnesium, potassium and vitamin C. They have been studied and results confirm that they likely alter the way cancer cells reproduce so they may reduce cancer risk. They are full of fiber and for their tiny size contain a lot of health benefits. Remove the greens from these to help keep the roots crisp for storing.

  5. Salad Mix—These leafy greens are a rich source of vitamins A, K and folate. Also a good anti- inflammatory leafy green.

  6. Baby Bok Choy—Full of anti-cancer properties such as Vitamins C & E, beta carotene, and selenium which is thought to slow the growth rate of tumors.

  7. Garlic Scapes—the list of health benefits is almost too long!! It’s anti-fungal, anti- inflammatory, boosts immune health, and is full of antioxidants! Just eat garlic with every meal!

2025 Harvest 2

Howdy folks and welcome to week 2 of your Tumbleweed Farm CSA share. We hope you had a great week of healthy eating and are ready for another week of farm fresh goodness!

We’ve been busy out here in the fields. The past week we had rain, heat, wind and got a lot done! We’re feeling a bit behind on our weeding as the harvest days are taking up a lot more time this year (our CSA shares have grown and we’re so grateful that we get to feed so many of you!) But with that, we’re learning to manage field days with this bigger harvest. We continue to transplant and direct seed thousands of plants and seeds each week. It’s a LOT! But we’re here for it and we’ve got a solid crew busting their butts right alongside us.

Here are a few snap shots of this past week in the field.

Alrighty folks, we hope you get to sit down to a lot of meals this week with people you love. Happy cooking and eating!

Andrea, Taylor, Pepper, Maize and our awesome crew

2025 Harvest 1

Howdy folks and welcome to your first Tumbleweed Farm CSA haul of the 2025 season! We’re honored to feed you and your families this season. Thank you for trusting us to grow the safest, healthiest, most nutrient dense food you can find locally. We hope you get to sit down to a lot of family/friend/neighborhood dinners and enjoy the flavors of the season.

We’ve been hustling out the in the fields the past two months getting things prepped, planted, weeded, watered and fertilized. It’s a busy time around here but we have a great crew with us and we’re excited for the weeks and months ahead.

The rain this past week was a blessing and we got to take a break from irrigating the fields. The greenhouses still needed tending to, but it was nice to let mother nature take care of the rest for us. Our kiddos and the crew were in good spirits despite the cold and rainy weather for our first harvest day yesterday. It was a muddy one folks, but we got the veggies washed and cleaned up for you and you’d never guess how muddy it was!

Alrighty, we hope you enjoy the harvest this week!
